colorstay base coat, colorstay top coat, ruby's cube, sally hansen, salon perfect, shell we dance

I love this polish!  It’s a party in a bottle.  I was really looking for something that was pink, teal and yellow, because I saw these Jamberry nails wraps and thought they were cute.  Instead, I found this primary colored one and to give it a try.  The base color is my easy go to Sally Hansen’s “Shell We Dance” and the top coat on my ring finger is Salon Perfect “Ruby’s Cube”.  The only think with these polishes is it takes 2 or 3 coats to get the flecks to got all over the nail.  Even some strategic placement is needed to get it to look right.  But for me, it’s worth the extra effort.

I’ve started using a base coat religiously (Revlon Colorstay) and it’s made a huge difference!  I’ve never really liked base coats before but this one is awesome.  Top coat is also Colorstay.  Mani will last for a week, no problem.

DIY French Manicure, Frence Manicured Toes, Ivory Nail Polish, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure, Sheer Force

I love the look of a French manicure on toes.  Something about it says, I just pampered myself at a salon!  If you know me, you know that that is a rare occasion.  So I did my own and instead of using the French White tip color (opaque bright white)  I used this sheer off white color by Sally Hansen Spring 2015 Collection, Sheer Force.  I think it looks a little more everyday, not too fancy.

Bubblegum Pink, DIY Nail Color, Mixing Nail Color, Sally Hnsen, Sheel We Dance, Sheer Color Manicures

DSC04248DSC04246I noticed tis trend last year, bold sheer nail color!  I tried it last summer by only putting one coat of a color on my nails before my topcoats.  But it would always flake off quickly.  Just not enough layers to stick, I guess.  So this solution came to me this year.  I am going Hard Candy and mixing my own.  I took a spare bottle of Shell we Dance and mixed it with Bubblegum Pink.  The color is a bright, light sheer pink that I love. It’s a pretty pink, but the sheerness makes it look more grown up.  Forgive the horrible cuticles, but enjoy the color!

Essie Eternal Optimist wiht Maybeline Color Show in Gilded RoseHere is my twist on rose gold.  A rose pink nail with some shimmer and the base.  Essie Eternal Optimist with Maybeline Color Show is Gilded Rose.  It’s hard to see in the picture, but the Color Show has a bright gold glitter base with larger rose gold flecks.  Really pretty.

It is Christmas week and I need more sparkle!  Finding the perfect nude color polish is like finding the perfect nude shoe or foundation, I would guess.  You just have to keep looking until you get the right shade.  My perfect shade is Milani Vanilla Almond.  The sparkle is courtesy of OPI, Pop the Cork.  I covered the accent nail completely with the OPI polish, but only did the tips of the other nails.  Sparkle on!

Holiday Manicure, Holiday Nails, Holiday Sparkle, Revlon Top Speed Polish, Sephora by Opi, Sheer Ivory Polish, Spark-tacular Top Coat

DSC02732This week’s mani has a little summer throwback.  I loved this ivory polish this summer.  I saw a lot of white polish, but white just wasn’t right for my skin tone, so I searched for Ivory.  If you know me, you know I really do search for the perfect anything, and this polish was no different.  Finally, I found this one Revlon Top Speed in Sheer Ivory.  Sparkle is thanks for this find, Sephora by Opi in Spark-tacular Top Coat.  It’s perfect for the holidays!.. Gold, Silver, Green, Red and Fushia all in one bottle!

Colorstay Fall Mood, Colorstay Gel Envy, Holiday Nail Ideas, Metallic Copper Nail Polish, Natural Nails, Sally Hansen Shell We Dance

DSC02686So, it is on!  The holiday season here and I am going to try to accomplish as much as possible in the next week.  That primarily means shopping and decorating. And as if that were not enough, how about a hockey tournament?  It will be a busy week to say the least, so there will be no time for nail polish touch-ups.  My solution to a week like this is natural looking nails.  For the last couple of years (since my all time fav Revlon Colorstay Sheer Bliss was discontinued) I have used Sally Hanson Shell We Dance.  It is a sheer pink that is the perfect color for natural looking nails and shows little to no wear and tear during a hectic week.  Since it is the holidays, I jazzed it up with a little polka dotted accent nail using Revlon Colorstay Fall Mood (which is basically a metallic copper) and a toothpick. Top coated with 2 coats of Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Top Coat.

Colorstay Gel Envy, Covergirl Outlast Non-Stop Stone, OPI Pop The Cork, Thanksgiving Manicure

DSC02601So much to do for Thanksgiving.  I started with my nails.  🙂  It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve removed that last color and my nails are suffering.  So I cannot wait another day!

Covergirl Outlast in Non-Stop Stone (3 coats), OPI sparkle in Pop the Cork (just at the base of the nail, 2 light coats), and always Top coat with Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy (2 coats).  It has amazing shine and extends any at home mani no matter what polish you use for color.
