Light Bulb! Crossbody or Clutch?

I can’t believe it but this is my 100th post! Plus, I’m coming up on my 1 year anniversary of this little project! Thanks to all of you who are paying attention. I hope you get little bit of inspiration every once and awhile. 🙂

This is the bag from yesterday’s post. Let me start by saying I have little to no use for small bags. I use them more on vacation, but I do like to have clutches that fit into my bigger bag so I can grab the clutch part on the go (running to the store mostly). I need my clutches to have a wrist strap. Having to hold onto a clutch leaves you with just one hand, so I always look for a wristlet that is big enough to hold my phone, some lip gloss and my wallet.

Here’s what I did to make this crossbody a clutch, I took it to a cobbler (shoe repair). Had them remove the strap and add lobster claws to the long strap so it would be removable. Then I asked them to make me a wrist strap and add a lobster claw to that. Now I can change it from crossbody to wristlet anytime.

PS. I have reworked this concept to work with other bags as well. My pink Buddah Bag (seen here) has a removable crossbody strap that I add to this little bag that I mostly use a clutch. I bought this colorful number at Walmart when I was looking for a vacation clutch (I cut off the long strap that I had no use for). And now that I have the wristlet attachment I can add it to almost any small bag I have.

I feel like I need to layer even at this time of year. I know it’s not summer yet, but it’s been feeling like it lately (thank goodness!) The mornings are cold, but then it heats up to 80. This is how I handled it on today. I belted a baggy sweatshirt over my sundress. Simple. The idea of belting a bulky sweater is a la Sarah Jessica. The dress is a TJ Maxx find from the end of the season last year. I find the best stuff at the end of the season. It’s a halter dress, which I love because it makes your shoulders look wider which in turn makes your hips look smaller (yay!), but it is a little loose up top so to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions I wear my Express cami under it. The sweatshirt is from the men’s section at Walmart (also seen here). The belt is an old Target purchase. I love these braided belts because they can fit anywhere. Around your waist, or hips with no hole punching. Gold flip flops are Lands End, also clearance from last year. Watch is Target (clearance this spring) and bag is Big Buddha (TJ Maxx).

I am very hopeful that Spring is in full swing but the mornings are a bit cool.. so I seem to start my day wearing more that I am at the end of the day. This morning started with an old pair of GAP Jeans that look very boyfriend-esque and are in a light wash — they are called Slim Fit. This pair I cut the bottom and gave it a little roll to crop them up. This is another pair that I bought 2 sizes about 13 years ago (the other pair is seen here). I am so comfortable in sweatshirts lately…this is my embellished gray from Target (also seen here and here). The striped tee underneath is a new favorite (Faded Glory, Walmart) — it’s got a high-low hem that is perfect for half tucks. You’ll definitely be seeing more of this shirt this summer. The accessories in this outfit comprise of a scarf (a gift), my Converse All Stars (read more about these here), my Target watch clearance find (also see here) and a gloriously pink bag by Big Budda (TJ Maxx-also see here) and sunnies are J.Crew Factory last year (similar here and here).
