This is a short but sweet post. Sweet like my Favorite Perry’s ice cream (hence the post name).  Here’s an example of what I wear on a regular day, wrinkles and all.  The strapless top is No Boundaries from Walmart — I have 3 of them (two from last year one from this).  It’s a great alternative to a tank or tee.  They are Junior sized and I hate it when they are too tight so I bought them in Large.  Mint is not a color I usually wear but I like the way it looks with navy and I have plenty of that in my closet.  Today I pulled out these grey linen drawstring shorts (Cynthia Rowley) I bought at TJ Maxx last spring.  Watch is Target (this spring, clearance, close-up here), flip flops are Lands End (last spring also seen here and here)

Ever look at your closet completely befuddled?  What am I going to wear today?  I am particularly challenged when I have something I have to dress up for.  I live in casual clothes.  So for my friend’s daughters’ christening I stared at my closet for quite awhile before coming up with this outfit and I really like it.  It was dressy but not too dressy.  The skirt is Target from 4 years ago.  I love it because of it’s colors and pattern but also I can dress it up or down and it has pockets!  I’ve worn it with tanks and tees but I can dress it up with a blouse or cardigan sweater.  Today it’s something in between.  With my oversized menswear shirt from last fall (TJ Maxx, also seen here and here) and white tank from Target, half tucked to make it feel more casual.  The shoes are my pop of color!  They are so old I can’t even remember where I got them.  If I were going to buy another pair — I might go for these –love them! The blue and orange combo never grows old for me.  A little side note, the summer after my senior year in high school I went to Spain.  I had to pack for a whole summer.  As we shopped (probably all at TJ Maxx), my mother and I decided on a color palette so that I could make multiple outfits with fewer pieces.  So blue and orange became the winning combination for Summer 1987.  I wonder if that is why I still love it to this day.

These might be my new favorite pants. After so many years of skinnies, palazzos are back!  They are so comfortable and I love how they kind of look like a maxi skirt but without being cumbersome like a maxi skirt.  I just got it this week on clearance at Target.  I made a killing at Target.  The tank top is old Target in a dark fuchsia, but they have them on sale this week 3 for $27.  I can never have enough white ones, so I bought a white grey and a couple of new V-Neck tees on sale for the same price.  Necklace was a birthday gift (also seen here)and the watch is also Target, last spring.  The sangria is the best we’ve ever had from Columbia Restaurant.  We buy it by the case.  Yummm.

I feel like I need to layer even at this time of year.  I know it’s not summer yet, but it’s been feeling like it lately (thank goodness!)  The mornings are cold, but then it heats up to 80.  This is how I handled it on today.  I belted a baggy sweatshirt over my sundress.  Simple.  The idea of belting a bulky sweater is a la Sarah Jessica.  The dress is a TJ Maxx find from the end of the season last year.  I find the best stuff at the end of the season.  It’s a halter dress, which I love because it makes your shoulders look wider which in turn makes your hips look smaller (yay!), but it is a little loose up top so to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions I wear my Express cami under it.  The sweatshirt is from the men’s section at Walmart (also seen here).  The belt is an old Target purchase.  I love these braided belts because they can fit anywhere.  Around your waist, or hips with no hole punching.  Gold flip flops are Lands End, also clearance from last year.  Watch is Target (clearance this spring) and bag is Big Buddha (TJ Maxx).

Let’s face it, over half of my wardrobe is Throw Back.  I find ways to re-wear so many things!  This top is no exception.  I remember when I got it.  I was definitely living in North Carolina, so that is at least 11 years ago.  And I’m pretty sure I was not dating my husband so that takes us back at least another year, so I’m going with 13 years old.  It’s a very light blue (looks almost white) with small details at the neckline.  I particularly like the high slits on the side.  I paired it with my favorite shorts — I have a few pairs– J.Crew Chino 4″ inseam.  4″ inseam are my go to for shorts.  Even 3 1/2 feels too short for me.  5″ is doable, but it feels a little long.  A few years ago I figured out that 4″ is the best for me and I buy almost nothing else, which makes for very easy shopping decisions.  Accessories are my summer flip flops (Land’s End) and a stainless steel menswear watch from Target.

I really like this outfit.  I found the sweater on clearance (just before Mother’s Day) at TJ Maxx and have worn it a couple of times already.  It’s super lightweight, so I expect I will pull it out often this summer.  I layered it here with a white Tank top.  Cute with white shorts or jeans, I also love it with navy.  These cropped pants LOFT and I got them before I had T.. so 8 years ago.  This day I am off to Lillydale and I’ve never been, but from what I’ve seen it looks like sneakers (white Converse All Stars, seen here and here) are a good footwear choice.  My other accessories include my new fav necklace (seen here), my clearance watch from Target (also seen here) and my new gold hoop earrings, also from TJ Maxx.  I especially like them because they are not quite hoops, but more like loops and they are slightly hammered at the bottom of the loop giving them a little character.

As an added bonus, I just saw these pictures of my dear Olivia the day after I wore this outfit.  I must be on the right track, yes?

brrrrr.. what is this weather??! As much as I’d like to believe it’s spring.. it just plain is not feeling like spring.  This fall outfit is much better suited for today.  The short sleeved turtleneck (black seen here) is a Target purchase from this past fall, as is the dress.  This dress shape is great and I loved the wide stripes of lace when I saw it. The fitted top and full skirt accentuates the good and masks the not so good. Black tights and my suede pumps (DSW Ditto, seen here and here) make my legs look skinnier and longer than they are (all good). The new addition is these great earrings which I bought from Target this spring (inspired by this blogger).  Bag / TJ Maxx, Gold Watch / Target, Patent Leather Belt / old.

We were baseball and softball ready on Saturday.  Traveling from game to game with the kids and then off to a minor league game at night.  This outfit is my casual version of this J.Crew inspiration.  The sweater is a Forever 21 trendy buy from 2 years ago.  I occasionally shop there when I am looking for something that is particular trendy and I don’t want to spend a lot of money.  This trend has definitely stood the test of time.  The shorts were another surprising Walmart find, Faded Glory 5″ Twill Shorts.  They run big, I bought a size 4 and they fit perfect.  The gray tee is so old, I can’t even remember where I got it. Accessories: New fave slip on Converse (seen here and here), navy watch from Target, Ray Ban Aviators, Nike Baseball Cap.  The longer necklace was a recent birthday gift from my amazing group of Book Club friends and my own which I bought on Etsy from Caroline Grace Jewelry (maybe out of business, but her facebook page is here).

Grey Camo Tee Walmart DIY Cutoff Denim

It’s finally nice enough to ride our bikes to school. YAY!  I threw this together very quickly as I was going to pick up my kiddos and snapped a picture just as fast.  Inevitably, I am rushing to shower and leave the house just in time to get to school as they are being released.  Pick up at 2 means in the shower at 1:30 and I have to attempt to blow dry my hair or it is unbearably flat.  So after a barely blow dry, I’m off.  The cut off shorts are DIY.  The jeans were originally from White House Black Market.  I bought them after I lost my baby weight from T, so 7 years ago.  I cut them last year and gave them a 6 inch inseam which as frayed to 5 1/2.  The distressed grey camouflage tee is Faded Glory (Walmart).  I’ve gotten a couple of camo tees this spring. I plan on wearing them with denim and white.  My RayBan Aviator (details here) and white Converse (here and here) round out the casual cool vibe of this outfit.

I am feeling the sun and it feels so good!  Even though this day was not what I would classify as hot, it still felt amazing.  So what do you think about my latest find? These adorable lace shorts… Walmart… Can you believe it?  I bought them to try, because you never know.  I got them in ivory and black.  These are juniors so I bought an 11-12.  And I have to say I love them!  I couldn’t wait to wear them so I wore my capri leggings (also seen here) under them.  The black and navy stripe inspiration came from this J.Crew Catalog pic. The J.Crew painter’s tee (also seen here and here, similar to buy here) along with Report metallic slides (again) and my new Target watch created another sporty and comfortable outfit that is not “active wear”.
