I am in plaid heaven!  If you haven’t gotten a plaid shirt or 5 for this fall and winter, go get some!  I have overdone it, I’m sure, but I love all the shirts I’ve gotten and want to wear one almost every day.  I hit the jackpot at, of all places, Walmart.  They have these Tunic Length ones that are perfect for layering and front tucks.  Today I layered it with a dark heather grey Tee I bought last summer from Target (also seen here).  Distressed Skinny Jeans from Gap and my Arturo Chiang boots (seen here and here).  I am still loving the color of these boots but I think I need higher ones for this season. So I am on the hunt).  My quilted fleece is Target C9, last fall (also seen here).

images[6]Disgust CostumeInside out Disgust CostumeDSC05043Disgust Insdie Out Eyes and HairHalloween is here again and this year I dressed as Disgust from the movie Inside Out for the kids Halloween parties at school.  I completely pulled everything from my own closet for this costume.  So it’s not perfect but not bad.  It’s all about the color scheme.  The purple/pink and green dress.  I sprayed my hair with colored hairspray and added glitter because all of the characters in that movie have a glittery glow.  I also bought some fake eyelashes from the Dollar Store, and sprayed them green and glittery too.  Green sparkly eyeshadow and bright pink lips completed the look.

Have a fun and safe Halloween!

I can’t believe it but this is my 100th post!  Plus, I’m coming up on my 1 year anniversary of this little project!  Thanks to all of you who are paying attention.  I hope you get little bit of inspiration every once and awhile. 🙂DSC04860

This is the bag from yesterday’s post.  Let me start by saying I have little to no use for small bags.  I use them more on vacation, but I do like to have clutches that fit into my bigger bag so I can grab the clutch part on the go (running to the store mostly).  I need my clutches to have a wrist strap.  Having to hold onto a clutch leaves you with just one hand, so I always look for a wristlet that is big enough to hold my phone, some lip gloss and my wallet.

DSC04864

Here’s what I did to make this crossbody a clutch, I took it to a cobbler (shoe repair).  Had them remove the strap and add lobster claws to the long strap so it would be removable.  Then I asked them to make me a wrist strap and add a lobster claw to that.  Now I can change it from crossbody to wristlet anytime.

PS.  I have reworked this concept to work with other bags as well.  My pink Buddah Bag (seen here) has a removable crossbody strap that I add to this little bag that I mostly use a clutch. I bought this colorful number at Walmart when I was looking for a vacation clutch (I cut off the long strap that I had no use for).  And now that I have the wristlet attachment I can add it to almost any small bag I have.

Summer is almost over which means the sale opportunities are dwindling!  This is the second $12 dress I bought at Kohl’s.  Fit and flare is my go to style.  It’s the most complimentary for my figure (slightly pear).  It’s Lauren Conrad.  Usually her dresses have a waistline that is a little too high for me.  This one fits a little lower.  Still not perfect, but for $12, I know it’s something that no one else would notice but me.  I love the lace detail (it’s on the back too, but I forgot to get a picture of it) and it’s machine washable!  Perfect as a throw on dress and I bet if I ironed it :-), I could dress it up with heels.  I’m not sure the color comes through here but it’s a corally red.  Great for my skin tone!  The purse came from a golf outing giveaway (nice, right?–thanks for the invite, Elise).  It’s a Coach Peyton Swingback Crossbody bag (no longer available, but lots on Ebay). I had it made into a clutch (more on this in my next post).  The watch and sunglasses are from Target (seen here and here) and the flip flips are Lands’ End.  Nail Polish is Sally Hanson in Sheer Force (also seen here).

It’s time for summer sales!  I was in Kohl’s and found 2 adorable dresses for $12.00 each — this is one of them.  I layered a black V-neck tee (Merona) over it hoping for a more casual look.  Flip flops help that cause as well… These are Lands’ End (old).  Hope you’re enjoying your summer!  More posts are coming from me…having a hard time getting things together while the kids are off for the summer as shown below. 🙂

This outfit turned out better than I thought it would.  An easy, but still pulled together outfit for me is a tank or tee with a flirty A-linish skirt and flip flops.  It’s so much cuter than just shorts.  The skirt is from Forever 21 at least 2 years ago.  Go figure, it still has a regular spot in my summer wardrobe.  The tank, in heather grey, is from Target this year. Denim jacket (also seen here and here) is so old. H & M about 15 years ago and I still love it. I can wear it open or buttoned up.  I liked it better buttoned up for this look.  The sleeves are pulled up a la J.Crew 2015.  The bag is Nine West, TJ Maxx last summer.  The flip flops are Lands’ End (no longer available and hard to find nice gold ones, so if you see a pair, grab them!).  Watch is Target (also seen here).

Wearing white jeans can be risky when you have little ones, but I love them on those summer days that aren’t hot but not cool either.  Today the kids and I are out and about, headed downtown for various fun events. 🙂  And per summer time crunches– I have not spent too much time getting ready for the day as is evident by my less than perfect hair (oh, well).  I wore my LC jeans from Kohl’s (also seen here with the backpack) with my Grey Camo tee from Walmart (also seen here).  I love the camo/white combo (inspiration here from last year) and the grey is a 2015 twist.  The belt is an old Fossil belt (I like this one too), backpack is from BJ’s Wholesale club last year, French West Indies, sandals are TJ Maxx last year, Nine West, style: Solitude (still have some on Overstock) and sunnies are J.Crew Outlet 2014.

90 degree, adidas, energy boost, floral leggings, mpg leggings, running outfit, running shoes, tj maxx, workout wear

DSC04539DSC04546DSC04543DSC04090

I seriously updated my workout clothes this spring.  For my birthday my hubby’s family gave me a $150.00 gift card to TJ Maxx.  I decided to spend it on my workout wear (look at all that I got for $150.00).  Because I wear it almost everyday, it made sense to jazz it up a little.  I went for fun and colorful.  I needed a break from my black and grey leggings.  These floral leggings fit the bill! Every time I wear them I get a compliment, so why not show them here in the blog.  They are MPG and have a back zip pocket.  The top is 90 Degree by Reflex.  I bought this top in 3 different colors.  Great for running but also for yoga.  Tight enough to stay put in down dog, but not too tight. Running shoes are Adidas Energy Boost from the Adidas Outlet.  Since New Balance re-designed their 890s, I was in search of new sneakers and these are awesome!  Their tech-fit upper completely forms to your foot and the cushiony sole is just what I like for my workouts.

I love these shorts.  I wear them often.  I found them last year at Marshall’s after I saw a similar pair on Pinterest.  I love the stripes that are more of a rope pattern and the gold button detail.  They are my version of neutral because they go with anything.  I like them with a polka dot ribbon belt that is reversible with stripes on the other side.  The belt came with a white shirt dress I bought 10 years ago at Target — back when Isaac Mizrahi had a line there.  For the 4th, I wore them with my red tube top (Walmart — seen here in mint green).  Accessories: gold flip flops, Lands End; watch Target; bracelets, Mantra Bands (also seen here); cateye sunnies, Target.

I am sometimes surprised with what I pull out of my closet and this is one of those outfits.  I was just running errands, but then I got a call and realized I was going into school for the second grade pizza party, surprise!  The good news is that I didn’t look like a total mess.  The lace shorts are from the Walmart Juniors section.  I saw an identical pair in TJ Maxx a few weeks after I scooped these up.  I bought them in black too, seen here.  Just like my last post, they are a large.  I definitely did not want these to be too tight.  The shirt is a very recent purchase from Kohl’s.  I was looking for a graphic tee — you know the ones with a statement or word on it? Anyway, I saw this flamingo and had to have it.  It’s an X-Small.  I think it’s meant to be a very baggy tee but I wanted it more fitted and even still in an extra small, it’s fairly loose.  The flip flops are last summer Lands’ End.  The purse is Nine West and either TJ Maxx or Tuesday Morning.  Watch is Target.
