Astoria, Marianas trench, Running Music

I downloaded the whole Marianas Trench Album, Astoria.  It plays like a musical.  I really love it–Track 1 to 17.

These are the ones that made My Top Rated Playlist, which, if you are new to the series, is my running playlist.  If you’re looking for some new songs, try these:

Track 3    Yesterday    bpm 154

Track 6    This Means War   bpm 96

Track 10    Shut Up and Kiss Me   bpm 96

Track 11    Who Do You Love?   bpm 107

Make your Top Rated playlist your playlist for exercise, in my case, running. That way you can add and subtract songs easily and on the go. Rating a song with 5 stars automatically adds it into your Top Rated playlist. Anything less will drop it out.

I am always adding songs (often for my kiddos) and decide I’ll try them on my run. Sometimes they’re great and sometimes they’re not as encouraging as I thought they would be. I need motivating music to exercise. I have been known to leave the gym if I realize I have no power to my iPod or I’ve forgotten it completely. Other times, I get sick of songs and want to drop them out of the shuffle. This routine allows me to do it literally on the run.

A friend of mine started running this summer and asked me about songs. I love this kind of exchange! I am always on the search for new songs and love to give and receive in this arena. I told her how I create my playlist by using the default Top Rated playlist. She had not thought of it before, enthusiastically told me it was a good idea, and that’s all I need to make it a quick Light Bulb! post.

Have you added Mariana’s Trench to your playlist? Do it!  They remind me of Blink 182 with better vocal.  Kind of pop-rock-alternative?  Is that a genre?

Here are my new favorites for running..

  1. Perfect (BPM 106)
  2. Celebrity (BPM 164)
  3. Sing Sing (BPM 120)
  4. Cross My Heart (BPM 160)
  5. Here’s to the Zeros (BPM 105)

bpm, Running Music, Zac Efron

We got back from our cruise last week and the good news is I only gained 3 lbs.  The bad news is now I have to get on a better exercise track so I can lose those pesky 3 lbs.  Aiming for 4 days this week plus a power yoga.

I had an awesome running playlist this morning.  Just a good shuffle.

  1. Young Volcanoes, Fall Out Boy –Love this song, great for car singing and dancing too. (95 BPM– 190 if taking double time steps)
  2. The Underdog, Spoon– from the movie 17 Again with Zac Efron when he gets out of the car his first day back to school after the makeover. That is the moment I understood why he was so loved by pre-teens. (145 BPM)
  3. Taming of Carolyn, Lowest of the Low (BPM 95, but again use the double steps to bump up the running speed)
  4. Die Young, Kesha (BPM 128)
  5. Her Comes Forever, R5 — stole this from my kiddos (BPM 60 –double time 120)
  6. I’m Ready, AJR stole this one too (BPM 78– double time 159)
  7. American Girl, Bonnie McKee (BPM 128)
