First this is an older photo — we do NOT have any snow on the ground. 🙂

So this idea came to me when I saw this outfit and I thought “I can pull this together with what I already have in my closet”–just a new twist on layering . The plaid press is GAP last year (also seen here) and the sweater dress is probably at least 2 years old from Kohl’s, of course, on clearance (also seen here) Boots are my over thee knee suede, belt is Merona from Target (also seen here and here) . Bag is Steve Madden from TJ Maxx (inspired by this blogger and her coach bag from 2009).

More from my new plaid collections of shirts. This is the only Buffalo Check I have, but it’s in the classic red with charcoal grey. This shirt is in tunic length from Walmart (another pattern seen here) and half tucked into my jean leggings from GAP, 1969 collection (seen here and here, similar here). The coat has become a staple for me (Target C9, last year, also seen here ) The blanket scarf was what I found after Land’s End ran out of the Stewart Plaid last winter (also seen here), but I actually like this one better and if you need this in your wardrobe, head to Bluebirds and Sunshine at the Galleria Mall. I just saw it there in a darker hue. The Boots? …now the boots are brand new. I have been on the hunt for riding boots that are tall like my Hunter boots (16 1/2 “). In my experience here in Buffalo, the best place to buy boots is Lord and Taylor. Not always the least expensive, but not run of the mill and you will love them for years. This pair is awesome! Black with bronze back panels and metallic heel embellishment give something unexpected to these riding boots. Made by Sam Edelman, his Circus line, online at 6pm for $62.00. I am in plaid heaven! If you haven’t gotten a plaid shirt or 5 for this fall and winter, go get some! I have overdone it, I’m sure, but I love all the shirts I’ve gotten and want to wear one almost every day. I hit the jackpot at, of all places, Walmart. They have these Tunic Length ones that are perfect for layering and front tucks. Today I layered it with a dark heather grey Tee I bought last summer from Target (also seen here). Distressed Skinny Jeans from Gap and my Arturo Chiang boots (seen here and here). I am still loving the color of these boots but I think I need higher ones for this season. So I am on the hunt). My quilted fleece is Target C9, last fall (also seen here).

Yes, yes it is. M was just looking over my shoulder as I was editing some photos and said… “Is that my shirt?”, “Looks better on you then it does on me!”. Love him. Anyway, it’s baseball season and I saw an outfit on another blog that I stalk and thought about my hubby’s closet. Great idea! Along with my GAP Skinny Denim Leggings (seen here and here), Converse All Stars (see this post for my tip on keeping them looking whiter longer) and my new bag for spring/summer this Big Buddah bag (TJ Maxx) in a glorious Hot Pink! Also, I did some watch shopping at my favorite spot, Target! I get the best boyfriend watches there for $10 to $20. And extra $10 gets them sized properly for my unusually small wrists. And so my collection grows. This one (similar here) reminds me of the TAG I bought M for our first anniversary. The extra chunkiness of the watch matches the oversized baseball jersey perfectly!

So this is spring? I’m sure many of my friends are dressing in adorable spring clothes. We in the northeast are still battling the chill (understatement). So today, a simple outfit. My standby combo of camo and stripes. Gap skinnies (seen here and here) are as neutral as blue jeans. My shirt is J.Crew (seen here) and the waffle knit wrap is an old target purchase that I haven’t worn in a while, but I saw this blogger wearing one similar and it inspired me to dig it out. Boots are Arturo Chang (seen here and here). Knit hat is the navy version of this one. I’m adding a little Navy to everything lately. Just love it! Coat is Nine West — Bought it at Tuesday Morning, of all places, or something like $25.00 2 years ago. My old olive coat was on it’s last legs when I ran across it. Fur collar is removable. These new sunglasses are quickly becoming a staple! And red lips… what do you think?

St Patrick’s Day Parade! So many great memories of going when I was in my 20’s (for obvious reasons) and when the weather is agreeable, we’ve taken the kids.

This sweater is one from the great sweater buy at Marshall’s of 2015 (other sweaters are here, here and here). I love the navy and green combo and have worn it many times since I bought it. Plaid seemed appropriate for the day’s festivities so I’m once again wearing my fav blanket scarf from ASOS (also seen here). Jeans are Leggings from GAP (seen here and here). The jacket is NEW! I found it on clearance at Target last week. Love it! It’s fleece with nylon quilting. Of course, now I can’t find it on their website, but it was $22 (similar here). A “cannot pass up this deal” purchase (even hubby agreed with me on this one). Boots are Hunter Original Tall in Green. If you are thinking of getting a pair — now is the time. When all this snow melts it is going to be one sloppy baseball/softball season! The knit hat is cable knit, black with silver threads and who can resist a pom-pom on top? I bought it at our local supermarket (go figure) in their seasonal section — clearance of course, $5.00. So great I bought 5 of them (different colors) and G and I share. 🙂

Happy Birthday another love of mine, who gave his birthday weekend to the Hockey Gods! We had a great time in TO! Thanks to my family for taking all my pics for this post. Poor M. He’s so patient. Both T and G are budding photographers. We got them their own cameras for Christmas and they took pics of everything at the Hockey Hall of Fame! Reminded me of when I was a kid and took pics on our vacations. So happy we did that for them. Can you see my little guy getting into the act?

So this day was Hockey game in the morning, back to the hotel to relax for a bit, off to the Hockey Hall of Fame, and dinner at Famosa on Bloor Street West and party back at the hotel for kiddos and grown-ups alike. I love Toronto. Need to go more often.

The great sweater buy continues! When I saw his one on he rack a Marshall’s I was reminded of this post from one of my favorite bloggers and thought, I need to get his sweater! I love the color and the detail of the yolk, so delicate. And it’s 3/4 sleeve, which is my favorite. I am so sick of these boots! but what are my options when it is freezing and slushy? Just going to have to continue to make them work. Maybe I need an alternate pair.. black, I think. My jean leggings are GAP (here and here) and I’m wearing my beefy tee again (here and here). It really is wonderful under these sweaters. And my belt, this is a very old one, but I love it because it is that woven kind that can be adjusted to any size, waist, hips and anywhere in between. Also, the buckle lays really flat so I can wear it under tops with out looking all bulgy. I highly recommend getting one or two woven belts, they always fit perfectly.

One of the great things about living in Buffalo is that there are massive sales on winter clothing long before winter is over! I just bought a boatload of clearance sweaters from Marshall’s this week. This is one of them. This marsala high-low cropped sweater is American Eagle. You know I love my scalloped edge tank (seen here and here with the same jeans), and it is highlighted perfectly by the cropped front of this sweater. And if you read my post from yesterday, you saw that I am dreaming of a higher boot…then I remembered today, I think I have a pair! They are a chocolate brown and oh so much higher than what I am now used to, but mission accomplished. Once again, my Basement Department Store is always open! They are so very old, I couldn’t even tell you when I got them.

Brrr…. good thing I found this coat last week! It’s all I’ve worn since then! I wandered into gap and they were having an additional 60% off sale. I had just seen these pics of Olivia Palermo, so after I tried it on, I was inspired and bought it. The slouchy hat is new too (cute, right?)– American Eagle has a huge selection of hats on sale right now. I might have to go back for more. I love my hats! The rest of the outfit is basic. My go to V-neck tee (also seen here), black cargo pants (seen here), suede booties (seen here and here).

Sorry for all the mirror selfies, but I am trying to post outfits as often as I can. I hope to get back outside to take some pics soon. I just need a little break in the weather. 🙂

Am I Blushing?

I read somewhere this week that trending colors this year include Navy and Blush. I love Navy. So much better than black as a neutral. And blush is a color that I buy for myself because it looks good with my skin tone, so, I happen to already have some in my closet. As usual, a simple comment or photo sent me digging through what I already own. Today was chilly, but not too cold, so I layered a sleeveless lace top under my blush polka dot sweater, which is short enough so you can actually see the lace top (both 2013 TJ Maxx). More pattern, more texture. My jeans are actually Legging Jeans from Gap, these are a little different wash from mine but the same fit. They’re great after one or 2 wears and perfect to go inside boots. The boots are my new favorites, over the knee, Chinese Laundry. The scarf is an old Banana Republic find.. I think it was actually a sarong. It is a great neutral color so I have always used it as a wrap (early in it’s life–Y2Kish or a scarf–recent years). My Utility Jacket is another TJ Maxx find (sashimi-similar here), It’s really light so I layer with it all the time. I wear it over sweaters, fleece jackets and vests.
