First this is an older photo — we do NOT have any snow on the ground. 🙂

So this idea came to me when I saw this outfit and I thought “I can pull this together with what I already have in my closet”–just a new twist on layering . The plaid press is GAP last year (also seen here) and the sweater dress is probably at least 2 years old from Kohl’s, of course, on clearance (also seen here) Boots are my over thee knee suede, belt is Merona from Target (also seen here and here) . Bag is Steve Madden from TJ Maxx (inspired by this blogger and her coach bag from 2009).

The star of this outfit is the buffalo plaid jacket, without question. It is a Thrift Store find. I bought it for $12.99, a complete steal. I love it and have worn it often this winter and now into the spring. This day I wore it over a monochromatic combo of black and charcoal grey. The faux leather leggings are from Target. I wasn’t sure about them at first, but under a long tunic top — I they look great! The sweater vest is sooo old. A TJ Maxx find from long ago (also seen here) and the boots were my fave footwear purchase of last year (seen here and here) inspired by the one and only OP. Hat and gloves are from my local supermarket–believe it or not. Happy Friday!

More from my new plaid collections of shirts. This is the only Buffalo Check I have, but it’s in the classic red with charcoal grey. This shirt is in tunic length from Walmart (another pattern seen here) and half tucked into my jean leggings from GAP, 1969 collection (seen here and here, similar here). The coat has become a staple for me (Target C9, last year, also seen here ) The blanket scarf was what I found after Land’s End ran out of the Stewart Plaid last winter (also seen here), but I actually like this one better and if you need this in your wardrobe, head to Bluebirds and Sunshine at the Galleria Mall. I just saw it there in a darker hue. The Boots? …now the boots are brand new. I have been on the hunt for riding boots that are tall like my Hunter boots (16 1/2 “). In my experience here in Buffalo, the best place to buy boots is Lord and Taylor. Not always the least expensive, but not run of the mill and you will love them for years. This pair is awesome! Black with bronze back panels and metallic heel embellishment give something unexpected to these riding boots. Made by Sam Edelman, his Circus line, online at 6pm for $62.00. This outfit turned out better than I thought it would. An easy, but still pulled together outfit for me is a tank or tee with a flirty A-linish skirt and flip flops. It’s so much cuter than just shorts. The skirt is from Forever 21 at least 2 years ago. Go figure, it still has a regular spot in my summer wardrobe. The tank, in heather grey, is from Target this year. Denim jacket (also seen here and here) is so old. H & M about 15 years ago and I still love it. I can wear it open or buttoned up. I liked it better buttoned up for this look. The sleeves are pulled up a la J.Crew 2015. The bag is Nine West, TJ Maxx last summer. The flip flops are Lands’ End (no longer available and hard to find nice gold ones, so if you see a pair, grab them!). Watch is Target (also seen here).

I love these shorts. I wear them often. I found them last year at Marshall’s after I saw a similar pair on Pinterest. I love the stripes that are more of a rope pattern and the gold button detail. They are my version of neutral because they go with anything. I like them with a polka dot ribbon belt that is reversible with stripes on the other side. The belt came with a white shirt dress I bought 10 years ago at Target — back when Isaac Mizrahi had a line there. For the 4th, I wore them with my red tube top (Walmart — seen here in mint green). Accessories: gold flip flops, Lands End; watch Target; bracelets, Mantra Bands (also seen here); cateye sunnies, Target.

Teachers are people too! I love all the cute Pinterest worthy ideas for teacher’s gifts, but when I give my gifts I just think about all the mugs and chachki they must get over the years so I try to give something they can use! This year I decide to give the gift of the best sangria we’ve ever had (and we have tried many). The pitcher is from Target $7.99, the mix is part of our annual stash that we buy from Colombia Restaurant in Florida, and orange and a lime — all they have to do is add the wine. I also included these cute Freezie Mitts I found at Premier Gourmet since G’s teacher as little ones.

I have missed my sweater dresses this winter. It was so bitterly cold that a dress, of any kind, was hardly an option. This day is still chilly, but so sunny, that it was really perfect weather for this dress. I completed the look with an old leather jacket, suede shoes and my Grandmother’s earrings. The dress is at least 2 years old (Marshall’s). The coat is Target, maybe 7 years old/ Shoes are Ditto from DSW, last year. Bag, Steve Madden (also seen here and here) and sunnies, new from Target.

Did you have a gorgeous day yesterday, too? I think it was the last warm day we’ll see for a while.. like 6 months! 🙂 I was feeling like white jeans (Lauren Conrad, Skinny Ankle, Kohl’s). White jeans are tough. They have to be a great fit. I like them to have a little stretch but be thick enough to smooth out any bumps (if you know what I mean ;-)). And not so tight so you have a muffin top. If you haven’t found your pair yet, don’t give up! They are out there! Like any pair of jeans, you have to be willing to keep trying on pair after pair until they are right. My advice, don’t buy them unless you LOVE them. I advise that for pretty much any clothing you buy. But I emphasize it for jeans.

I wore my white jeans with a layering tank from Target in Olive Heather and my old standby Chambray shirt, also from Target (also seen here). Bone colored belt (I like this one too), black leather flip flops and a super cute navy and white striped backpack I bought this summer from BJ’s. Sunglasses are Ray-Ban and my jewelry is my standard, diamond studs and my favorite everyday gold charm necklace. People ask me about my necklace all the time. I’ll be giving the details of it in a post very soon!
